Community Calendar

Hello Newbies,


Wanted to let you know about a couple of different events happening in the community that you may be interested in:



Tomorrow, Thursday from 6-9pm a local Food Forum

Sudbury Food, Film & Forum…What a mouthful!
October 4, 2007, 6 pm - 9:30 pm, Tom Davies Square Council Chambers (200 Brady Street)
The Sudbury Food Security Network, in cooperation with The FoodShed Project, and Eat Local Sudbury, want to explore local food issues with YOU!Join us as we ask local politicians, as well as other outstanding community members, burning questions regarding the future of our food. An evening of watching films, eating local food, and talking about local food issues...

because the future of our food system is at risk****Please help us reduce waste by bringing your own reusable mug****

On Saturday October 20th, 3rd Annual Tour de Sudbury bicycle ride... take out your bike and ride around Ramsey Lake. Special guests will be the Otesha Project (youth between 18-30 yrs old) cycling across Canada to raise awareness about Climate Change and Sustainability. Visit http://www.otesha.ca/ to learn all about their cycle trip from Winnipeg to Sudbury.

They will be joining us for a last lap around Ramsey lake, and delivering workshops .

Saturday October 20, 2007

9:30pm at Tom Davies Square (200 Brady Street)

10am ride around the lake (3rd Tour de Sudbury) followed by workshops

12:30 meet and greet Otesha participants and BBQ.


A Sudbury newbies event for October... a fall colours trip to Killarney on Saturday, October 27th ( 1 hour hike in the park- pack a lunch)...followed by a Goulish Costume Halloween party in Wanup in the evening hosted by Aaron, Allison and Michelle. (Directions to their house to follow!)

If you are interested in the Killarney hike, please RSVP by October 20th with Nathalie at sudburynewbies@yahoo.ca and indicate if you would need a ride or have a car and can offer a ride! Departure hike time to Killarney would be 10am (45 minutes drive)...

Last but not least for the community calendar events....

The Young Professionals Association would like to invite you to their upcoming gala on Friday, November 9th at the Theatre du Nouvel-Ontario. It will be an evening of great entertainment with soothing jazz sounds of Tony Simpkin Trio. Great food ... great company... all in a very unique venue.
