Sundog highlights

Hello Newbies...Bonjour les Newbies!
Last time we had a big snow fall, we decided to go for a hike at Jim and Jenny's Sundog Outfitters in Dowling.
It was a perfect day for hiking as we had fresh snow on the ground, blue sky & sunshine with no wind. After a wonderful hike we indulged in a delicious lasagna dinner followed by campfire and a stick bread baking session!
We also had fun learning about various interpretations of what a Sundog means to the newbies. By far, the best interpretation was the song about the vegetarian hotdog.
So what is a Sundog really? (From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)
A sundog is a relatively common atmospheric optical phenomenon associated with the reflection/refraction of sunlight by the numerous small ice crystals that make up cirrus or cirrostratus clouds. Sundogs typically appear as a bright and sometimes colorful spot in the sky at a position 22 degrees to the left and/or right of the sun. Sundogs are closely related to, and sometimes appear together with, a halo.

Here are some great pics of our Sundog filled day/Voici les photos lors de notre journée:

Thanks to Jim, Jenny and Fin who were our tour guides and cooked us up a delicious dinner!!
